The KPI module

A KPI that takes care of itself.

In Strategia, a KPI is a full lifecycle wired into the systems around it: metric values flow in from your APIs on schedule, pass through your configured approval workflow, and arrive in dashboards with SMART scoring, target bands, reason codes, and an audit-ready history behind them.

01 Lifecycle states

A KPI is not something you set and forget.

Every KPI moves through four clear stages, with a full version history behind it. Retiring a KPI is a documented decision, never a quiet deletion.

01

Draft

The definition is still being shaped, and it does not yet count toward any roll-up.

02

Active

In active use, with a tracking status — on track, at risk, or off track — worked out from its target bands.

03

Archived

No longer collected, but its history is kept for audits and trend analysis.

04

Retired

Formally closed, with the reason recorded, and left out of active reports.

02 What's different

Six things most tools leave out.

These are the capabilities teams notice most when they move to Strategia from spreadsheets or a general-purpose strategy tool — and the ones they look at most closely during an evaluation.

SMART Score

SMART scoring with a real rubric, not a checkbox.

Each KPI is scored against the SMART criteria — specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound — with a detailed breakdown that shows exactly which part needs sharpening. A weak KPI never slips through unnoticed.

  • A score for each dimension, not a single pass or fail
  • Clear flags so KPI owners know what to improve
  • Recalculated whenever a KPI definition changes
speed

Target bands

Target bands, not all-or-nothing math.

Each KPI sets warning and critical thresholds alongside its target. Performance is color-coded automatically, and the same band rules also drive escalations further down the line.

  • Warning and critical thresholds with clear color signals: on track, at risk, or off track
  • Direction-aware: higher is better, lower is better, or a target range
  • Baseline and benchmark fields for comparison against your industry or peers

Metric workflow

Every metric arrives with its reason.

Metric values move from draft to validated to approved, and can be sent back when needed. When a metric falls short, its owner attaches a categorized reason code with a severity, so a review starts with context rather than the question "why is this red?"

  • A multi-stage workflow with an audit trail of every step
  • Categorized reason codes, with severity, for under-performance
  • A CSV and Excel import that returns any invalid rows with the errors explained

Weighted rollups

Roll-ups that respect every weight.

KPIs roll up into goals, goals into themes, and themes into the executive view, each step guided by weights that owners set themselves. The executive number always reconciles with the front line.

  • Weights from 0 to 10, where a weight of 0 excludes a KPI without deleting it
  • Roll up by department, perspective, or goal hierarchy
  • The executive, Balanced Scorecard, and operational views are all calculated the same way

Escalations

A breached threshold escalates on its own.

When a KPI crosses a warning or critical band, an escalation is raised automatically — to a manager, director, or executive, depending on how serious it is. Response times are tracked so nothing stays open too long.

  • Three tiers of escalation, from manager to director to executive
  • Tracking on how quickly each escalation is answered
  • Notifications in the app, by email, or by SMS, following each user's preferences
  • Snooze and resolve steps, each recorded in the audit trail

Quality alignment

Every KPI carries an ISO clause.

Link any KPI to an ISO 9001:2015 clause, note the process it belongs to, and record how its data is collected. Strategy reporting and quality reporting then draw on the very same data.

  • An ISO 9001:2015 clause field on every KPI
  • A record of the related process and the data collection method
  • A quality reporting schedule for each KPI
  • Filter audit-prep reports by clause, process, or owner
03 Insight layer

Numbers that explain themselves.

Strategia's analytics do more than plot history. They explain what changed, flag anomalies, and reveal which KPIs are genuinely driving your strategic outcomes.

translate

Bilingual KPI narratives

Short summaries of one to three sentences, in both English and Arabic, describe where a KPI stands today — its direction, how far it is from target, and its recent trend. They refresh as new metrics come in.

Anomaly detection

Strategia scans each KPI's metric history for outliers, using moving averages and statistical thresholds. Unusual values are marked clearly and surfaced in the needs-attention feed.

Correlation heatmap

A KPI-by-KPI correlation view reveals what drives performance — which leading indicators move which lagging ones — turning your scorecard into a map of cause and effect.

04 Connect your data

Pull data from your systems, on the schedule each KPI needs.

Two-way REST API integration connects Strategia to your CRM, ERP, finance system, or any internal tool. Each KPI runs on its own update cadence, with every collected metric dropping straight into the approval workflow you have configured. Bulk import is there too, for the data that does not live in an API.

  • Two-way integration with any REST API — basic, bearer, API key, or OAuth 2.0, with credentials encrypted at rest
  • Per-KPI update cadence: daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly, with queued, retried sync jobs
  • JSON path extraction maps any response field straight to a KPI metric
  • An outbound REST API at /api/v1/goals and /api/v1/kpis for systems that prefer to push data in
  • CSV and Excel uploads with row-by-row validation and per-row error reporting, for the data that does not live in an API
  • Connection health monitoring, with automatic retries on failure and alerts on persistent breaks

A working demo walks through the full lifecycle — connecting an API, setting an update schedule, configuring the approval cycle, defining SMART scoring and bands, and mapping to ISO clauses — all using KPIs from your own organization rather than a generic tour.
